Mike Peifer, a life-long Greentown resident, was first elected to serve the 139th Legislative District on Nov. 7, 2006.
He is a 1986 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, received a four-year baseball scholarship and graduated from Rider College in Lawrenceville, N.J., in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
Peifer pursued his accounting career with Price Waterhouse LLP, qualifying as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1991 and rising to the level of senior tax consultant. In 1995, he returned to Greentown to open his own accounting and tax firm, Michael T. Peifer CPA.
Peifer has been instrumental in the development of the Greentown Agway franchise, a family-owned and operated business located on State Route 507 in Greentown.
Peifer was elected as Pike County treasurer in November 1999, and reelected in November 2003. He also serves as president of Pike County United Way, treasurer of the Pike County Republican Committee, treasurer and Finance Committee chair of the Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, treasurer of the New Greentown Cemetery Association, and board member of the Devereux Pocono Center. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants, National Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Promised Land Sportsmen, and the Cold Hill Hunting Club of Greentown.
He is married to the former Jen Teeter of Hawley, a graduate of North Carolina State University and a 10th grade biology teacher at Wallenpaupack Area High School. Peifer is a father of three, daughter Corine, and sons Wyatt and Elijah.
