Mentored Youth Fishing Days, Trout Stocking Schedules Announced
In response to requests for more fishing opportunities, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) recently expanded the Mentored Youth Trout Days program to include all trout waters stocked by the PFBC and managed under Commonwealth inland regulations, which substantially increased the number of waters open to the program. The Mentored Youth Trout Day for the 139th Legislative District will be held on April 11, the Saturday before the statewide opening day of trout season. Mentors and children can each keep two trout, which must be at least seven inches. More information about the Mentored Youth Fishing Days program is available by visiting the PFBC website,

The PFBC also recently announced the 2015 adult trout stocking schedules. Before heading out, anglers should visit and select “2015 Trout Stocking Schedules” to find out what waters are being stocked.

Every year, the PFBC stocks approximately 3.2 million adult trout in more than 700 streams and 120 lakes open to public fishing. About 53 percent of the trout are stocked prior to opening day; 43 percent are stocked between opening day and the end of May; and the remaining 4 percent are stocked from October through February of the following year.
