Pike County Fire, Ambulance Companies Earn Grants, Say Peifer, Brown
1/23/2014
HARRISBURG – Reps. Mike Peifer (R-Monroe/Pike/Wayne) and Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) today announced more than $193,000 in grants awarded to volunteer fire and emergency response organizations in Pike County.

“We are so fortunate in our region to have dedicated volunteers who are willing to serve our communities,” Peifer said. “These state grants will help support them in their mission of protecting the public.”

“These organizations work hard day in and day out to protect our property and keep our communities safe, and I am pleased the state is able to help them by providing these funds,” Brown said.

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not general fund tax revenue.

Projects eligible for grant funding include: construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
