Peifer Bill Will Aid Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators
HARRISBURG – Legislation sponsored by Rep. Mike Peifer (R-Monroe/Pike/Wayne) to allow properly permitted Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators (NWCO) to operate more efficiently is on its way to the governor’s desk.
House Bill 891 would allow the operators to use electronics to remotely check their traps, saving them the time and cost of driving around to check traps at 24-hour intervals as required by law.

“In addition to saving time and money, the electronic monitoring systems immediately notify NWCOs when a trap has been activated so they can more quickly remove the animal,” Peifer said. “I am pleased the law will soon allow for this type of monitoring.”

NWCOs are licensed by the Game Commission, and many offer their services commercially. Enabling them to run their operations more efficiently would save them, and their customers, money, Peifer added.

Once signed by the governor, the law will take effect in 60 days.
