Legislation that would crack down on serious fish poaching by increasing penalties has been approved by the House Game and Fisheries Committee. Rep. Mike Peifer (R-Monroe, Pike & Wayne) prime sponsor of House Bill 2293, said his legislation would strengthen the laws in order to make them more of a deterrent for those who might illegally take fish.
